Frequently Asked Questions

I think I've gotten a virus. What can I do to get rid of it?

If you've gotten a virus on your computer you can run a virus scan and let your anti-virus software try to remove it for you. If your anti-virus software is out of date it may not be of assistance to you. Although anti-virus software is very good and removing infections from most computer systems, it does not always remove all viruses. The only way to 100% guarantee virus removal is to format your hard drive and reload Windows from scratch. (NOTE: Everything on your computer will be erased doing this. Make sure you've backed up all important documents)

My computer isn't as fast as when I first bought it. Is there anything I can do to make it run the way it did when I took it out of the box?

Over time computers tend to slow down. This occurs for a number of reasons. The most common reason is excessive software running in the background. Other causes may be installing and removing a number of programs through the life of your system. Even though you uninstall a program, there are bits and pieces that are left behind; this couple with fragmentation of other files can lead to a system running slower than when you first purchased it. One way to make your system run as it did when you first purchased it is format your hard drive and reload Windows from scratch. (NOTE: Everything on your computer will be erased doing this. Make sure you've backed up all important documents)
