I think I've gotten a virus. What can I do to get rid of it?

If you've gotten a virus on your computer you can run a virus scan and let your anti-virus software try to remove it for you. If your anti-virus software is out of date it may not be of assistance to you. Although anti-virus software is very good and removing infections from most computer systems, it does not always remove all viruses. The only way to 100% guarantee virus removal is to format your hard drive and reload Windows from scratch. (NOTE: Everything on your computer will be erased doing this. Make sure you've backed up all important documents)

My computer isn't as fast as when I first bought it. Is there anything I can do to make it run the way it did when I took it out of the box?

Over time computers tend to slow down. This occurs for a number of reasons. The most common reason is excessive software running in the background. Other causes may be installing and removing a number of programs through the life of your system. Even though you uninstall a program, there are bits and pieces that are left behind; this couple with fragmentation of other files can lead to a system running slower than when you first purchased it.
